I began practicing yoga in 2001. I started with DVDs since there were no yoga studios close to where I lived. When I moved to the Evansville area in 2003 I was so excited to find Yoga 101. I absolutely fell in love with not only hot yoga but also the studio itself. I began teaching in 2006. When I first started practicing hot yoga it was definitely for the "workout" aspect but over time it became something that has created more awareness in myself both in how I treats myself and how I see and relate to others. I have met so many wonderful instructors both at 101, in the community and around the country who have helped and inspired me along my journey. I feel very fortunate to be able to share my excitement and love of yoga with others.

I discovered Hot Yoga in the summer of 2000. I fell in love with the practice instantly. No other form of exercise had ever brought to the surface so much of who I am. All of my Strengths and weaknesses were laid before me within my first few classes. Although I first began because of the physical challenge that it presented I discovered very quickly how all encompassing this practice is. I discovered myself. I reconnected with my spirit as I became more in tune with my body. In 2001, I spent 9 weeks in Los Angeles at the Bikram's Yoga College of India for my first Yoga teacher training and over the next few years I had the opportunity to to travel with my teacher Jimmy Barkan, assisting him at posture clinics and workshops. I love teaching students of all levels and get so excited witnessing other people experience the life changing transformational power of this practice!

My husband Gordy and I have two beautiful daughters: one who lives in Arizona, the other in New York. I worked as a nurse and retired a few years ago. I treated myself to a yoga class on my 50th birthday and I’ve been practicing four to five times a week ever since. I began practicing yoga to alleviate my back, shoulder and hip pain from many years of high impact exercise. I am now pain free, medication free, enjoy my family, and I feel compelled to share my positive yoga experience with others.

I have tried many different forms of exercise throughout my life but when I went to my very first yoga class at Yoga 101 more than seven years ago, I was hooked. I find hot yoga to be the perfect combination of a body, mind and spiritual workout. It helps keep me in shape, keeps me calm and focused and refreshes my spirit. I feel like a better, more whole person after a great yoga class and you will too. I decided to teach at Yoga 101 because I want to help others reap the same awesome benefits of hot yoga as I do. I began practicing yoga in 2005 when my cousin invited me to go to class at Yoga 101. I thought I would try yoga as a way to stay in good physical shape. However, I soon came to enjoy the other benefits of yoga as well. Yoga has helped me to be more aware of my body, to eat healthier, and to relieve stress. I have tried and enjoyed other types of yoga, but always found myself back in the hot room. It’s because of our yoga community and my love for hot yoga that I always have considered Yoga 101 to be my home studio. I love teaching yoga and seeing students transform their lives as well as their bodies.

I began practicing yoga 4 years ago. I took part in a workplace "Biggest Loser Competition" and was encouraged to incorporate hot yoga into my weight loss strategy. Through a combination of hot yoga, running, and Zumba I was able to lose over 70lbs and completely change my life. Since then, yoga has become so much more than just a workout. After having completed my 200 Hour Teacher Certification, I began teaching at Yoga 101 in August of 2013. Our studio is my home away from home and our students and instructors a part of my extended family.

My yoga practice began in 1999 with vinyasa yoga and blossomed into a regular Ashtanga practice in 2003. I credit yoga as the light that gets me through the stresses of a busy life and I greatly enjoy being able to share that light with my friends, family, and my community. I have dabbled in many areas of yoga study but found Hot Yoga in 2008 and completed my 200 hour Yoga Alliance Certification in December 2013. I love to practice and teach in ways that benefit a strong yoga practice that melts away tension and opens up the body to a vigorous but enriching physical practice that brings peace of mind. I went to my first yoga class at Yoga 101 with a friend in the fall of 2003 during my senior year of high school. I liked it immediately but didn’t have the discipline to continue practicing until 5 years later when I moved home from college. I thought I needed a way to lose weight and a new hobby, but instead I found a new lifestyle and new friendships at Yoga 101. Yoga has given me strength, confidence, and happiness not only on my mat but in my everyday life. My own transformation is what inspires and creates a fire behind my teaching. I hope to inspire others to find what they need, be it peace, space, strength, or even just a good stretch. No matter what you’re looking for, yoga will teach you to live from within your true self.

I began practicing hot yoga in 2001 at the urging of a friend. I was never athletic or in good shape before hot yoga, and to be honest, I hated my first class. But I kept coming back and in just a couple of weeks noticed a difference in my body and my overall well-being. I think you can say I’m a lifer! I started teaching in 2003. Yoga has made such a profound change in my life -- I feel like I have to share it with others.

Drawing from a lifetime of loving movement and dance, Gayle teaches yoga as a way to find strength and delight in ourselves by using our physical nature to fully connect with our greatest Self. Gayle’s classes are joyful discoveries of what we are truly capable of through her intuitive sequencing of postures, precise alignment instruction, and guidance to release self-limiting thoughts and beliefs. Having a BFA in Dance from the University of Michigan, Gayle has always loved the science behind movement and has been an avid self-taught student of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology for over the past thirteen years. She has published articles for Yoga International on alignment, bio-mechanics, and pranayama (the breathing we practice in yoga). She is currently working towards her Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of Southern Indiana, teaches yoga at the Walnut Creek Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in Evansville, and is a certified Delay the Disease instructor working with people with Parkinson’s at Deaconess Hospital. I began practicing in 2001 and instantly loved hot yoga. I have a personal training background and this seemed like a great complement to what I was already doing. I have continued to practice through the years and in between having 5 kids. Although I started practicing for a great workout, it has turned into so much more for me. Yoga is my therapy. It gives me the "me" time that helps to balance and quiet my mind. In 2014 I got my yoga teacher certification to share my love of yoga with others. In my time outside of Yoga 101 I enjoy spending time with my husband and our 5 children.

My yoga journey began in 2001 in my early 20's. I was encouraged to try hot yoga to help me through a difficult time in my life. I found it to be very helpful and practiced regularly. Soon I was teaching. I enjoyed teaching but the call of work and family became too strong. I took a break from yoga for a long time while I pursued my business venture and had 3 awesome kids. Fast forward to my mid 30's. With my business running well and my children becoming more independent I decided to return to the yoga I loved. The yoga is different with my older body but as I've aged I've learned to respect my limits and embrace my abilities which was something I lacked in my younger years. I'm happy to be back to teaching and I love watching students accomplish their yoga goals. I have hundreds of hours of instruction under my belt and hope to acquire many more!
My interest in yoga began in 2012 when I attended my first yoga class at the University of Southern Indiana. I fell in love with the practice, but longed for something deeper. A friend of mine told me about an opportunity to become a certified group exercise instructor in the fundamentals of yoga. I completed my certification and began teaching at a local gym in 2013. I attended my first hot yoga class that summer and I was hooked! In 2014, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology. Teaching yoga has become a part of who I am because of the incredible impact it has made on my life. Throughout my personal practice I have had moments of feeling powerless, yet through these humbling moments, yoga has taught me that I am stronger mentally, and physically, than my biggest struggles. Whether it be a challenging asana, or a challenge in life, yoga has given me a sense of empowerment that I long to share with others. That empowerment has helped me experience joy and gratitude in life, and I want each and every person to experience that same feeling.

I began hot yoga for the first time in 2010 while in Chicago. Earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, I continued to delve deeper into studying the movements of the human body while continuing my vinyasa based practice. I have spent the last two years specializing in rehabilitation of special populations. Moving from Indianapolis to Evansville in 2016, I found the amazing community at Yoga 101 where I began my dream of teaching.

I enjoy connecting children and their parents to a relationship with yoga.

I began practicing yoga in 2008, about a year after a close friend bought me a gift certificate for a free class. After the first class, I was hooked and started practicing 3-5 times a week. Yoga changed my life in so many ways. When I am on my mat, I am in my own little perfect world where I feel content being completely myself. All the thoughts and worries of the day disappear. Yoga is a physical and mental practice that changes your body, mind, and spirit. Although you begin to notice the physical changes immediately, the mental and spiritual changes that come with a regular yoga practice are monumental. I am a teacher with EVSC and teach yoga primarily in the summer in my off time.

I started practicing yoga in the spring of 2003 after my mom convinced me to try a Bikram class. I quickly discovered my passion for yoga and specifically the anatomy of yoga practice. I was trained and certified by Jimmy Barkan in the fall of 2003 and immediately began teaching classes. Now, as a wife and busy homeschooling mom of her two sons, I relishes any extra time she can spend practicing, studying, and sharing my continued passion for yoga and its many benefits.

I was never competitive but always yearned for movement- dancing, sports, and even karate were too competitive for me to enjoy. I began practicing Yoga in January 2014 and immediately understood why Yoga had always called my name. After I began practicing, I became increasingly aware of where I was hiding in my life and where I was living with integrity; these revelations occur over and over again to this day. I discovered myself in backbends, challenged my perceived limitations in Warrior II, released dark and twisty emotions in Half Pigeon, and came closer to peace in Savasana. The overwhelming urge to learn about yoga and all that it entails became a slight obsession since day one. Eventually I mustered up the courage to sign up for teacher training at Evansville Yoga University with Mark Goltiao in the fall of 2015. I was turned inside out during the months of teacher training and came to know my first taste of feeling powerful; truly a priceless experience. I graduated as a 200hr RYT through Yoga Alliance and began teaching in January 2016. I feel so privileged to teach and practice at Yoga 101 and am driven to further my knowledge in all that is Yoga and earn additional certifications!

I have been practicing yoga since 2013 and received my 200 hour Yoga Alliance certification in March of 2017. My background includes mainly Bikram style yoga as well as drawing inspiration from the alignment focus of Iyengar yoga, as well as the Vinyasa practice of joining breath with movement. I look forward to teaching a mixed style flow class that is both challenging and accessible to all-levels of students. Designed as a moving meditation, my classes will offer a combination of cardiovascular exercise, strength, flexibility, and balance, with a thoughtful focus on alignment. Personally, I have found yoga has improved every facet of my life, from patience to physical health and spirituality. I love that in yoga, resting and yielding are given equal importance with striving and working; and I believe in learning to customize the practice to suit your own body and mind. I encourage students to practice from their hearts and then expand it into life. I hope that mindful practice will help my students to unfold inner peace, joyfulness while enhancing their physical well-being.
